"If we give our energy over to our problems, they grow larger and maintain their prominence in our experience.  The major problems in a person’s life are usually never solved through thinking.  When you are able to elevate your mind beyond your thoughts, a solution will be evident."

Transformative Wellness E-Newsletter:

May 2006:

Life goes on regardless of our attitudes, whether positive or negative.  The seasons change and the years pass from one to the next.  What is the quality of our existence?  Is it to our potential? Every possible moment can be refined into peaceful awareness.

The other day I was falling into the traps of frustration and anger with broken down cars, after the bout of emotion nothing really changed except for my extra tension and there sat my car.  I saw there is always a choice to react or to sit with observation and then act with clarity.  The opportunities to practice in every moment in our lives seem abundant.  Right now!

Recipe of the Month:

Steamed Honey Lemon Glazed Asparagus
2-3 bunches of asparagus cut into 3 inch pieces
1lemon
1tbls honey
2tsp olive oil/ butter
Pinch of salt and pepper to taste

This is a wonderfully simple side dish.  In a large pot steam asparagus 7-10 minutes until soft.  Do not over steam keep some firmness. In a small pan warm butter/ olive oil and add the honey.  When warmed (not boiled) and liquid is consistent take the pan off the stove and add the squeezed lemon.  Serve sauce over steamed asparagus and add a pinch of paprika for color.

Benefits
Lemon has natural cleansing properties for the liver.  Asparagus is in season now and the shoots are helpful to clean the arteries of cholesterol and are useful in vascular problems such as hypertension and arteriosclerosis.  Treats many types of kidney problems but should not be used when there is inflammation.
Asparagus contains the diuretic asparagines, which explains its capacity to eliminate e water through the kidneys.
