Transformative Wellness E-Newsletter:

June 2006:

Are you spontaneously itching to feel or experience something altered, different, lose the routine and maybe jump into a place that is foreign to your comfort zone?

One of my teachers would say, “If you’re comfortable it means your not growing”.  I have thought of this concept and attempt to bring it back to the natural world.  Nature is always in transition like the seasons, the sun, the cycle of the moon, the river full and swollen in the spring and trickling in the fall and our bodies and energies full in the summer alive ready to experience, in the winter spontaneous reflection and gentle hibernation.

May we be ready to break the habits, to be uncomfortable to grow and experience what is greater and grander out in the universe!

  1. The muscles of the legs become strong and flexible.
  2. The feet and rest of the body acquire balance.

Recipe of the Month:

Date Shake

For a single serving/ 1 person:
1frozen banana
3/4cup rice,soy,almond milk
2-3 medjool dates (fresh, found in the produce section
1 tbsp almond butter
Blend it up, and enjoy!
The banana is best used if it’s frozen, because then you don’t have to add any ice cubes.  If there isn’t a chill to the drink, then it may taste excessively sweet, from the dates.  So start with 2 dates, and then add more if you need to.

Benefits:
Almonds and almond milk have a slightly warming thermal nature; it relieves stagnant qi and transforms phlegm.  Used for lung conditions including coughing and asthma: also helps in cases of fluid dryness types of constipation.  In Ayurveda almonds is one of the best nuts for building the ojas, an essence that vivifies intellection and spirituality as well as reproductive ability.  This is the only alkaline nut!
